Runners cope with winter, surf festival pics and let’s go fly a kite.

Today’s adventure links:

Running

I sympathise with Warrior Woman.  Impending winter and lack of light has limited my ultimate frisbee playing as well as her running.  She makes a compelling case for an autumnal forest run.

If you’re determined not to let winter hold you back, maybe take your run into the peaks.  Rachel and Richard from Sterling Adventures went on a mini-mountain marathon on Kinder Scout.

Snowkiting

Ok, so I’m a fortnight behind on this one but I don’t think anyone in my neck of the woods will have noticed.  We had about half an hour of snow last week, now the good ol’ British drizzle is back.

But nevermind, because the SNOWKITING SEASON BEGINS HERE!!!!!!!! Thanks to Snowkiting.com for letting us know.

Kitesurfing

Some good pics from the South Coast Surf Festival at Scottburgh, South Africa.  I’m dying to go kitesurfing.  We saw some great action at Newgale Beach, Pembrokeshire on the Club Conch Summer Blowout.  Maybe we’ll get it booked in for the Spring.

Happy Travels!

Adventure Blog Roundup

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

Over the last week I’ve been expanding my subscription to adventure blogs, covering as wide a range of activities as possible from around the world.  It’s a work in progress but I’m hoping to post a few links here on a daily basis.

If you want to stay up to date in the world of adventure, subscribe to our RSS feed and let me do the hard work for you.

Caving

An international team of cavers have discovered an immense new cave shaft near the village of Tian Xing, China.  The photos are beautiful

There’s something about caving that really appeals to me.  The idea of exploring new cave systems is so exciting.  Loads of my adventurous friends say that caving is just a step too far for them, but when you look at images like this you wonder how anyone could pass up the opportunity.

Cycling

Very happy to see when people are defiant about continuing their sport through winter.  Tejvan Pettinger from Cycling Info gives some tips on cycling in winter and Jeff Barber from SingleTracks celebrates the start of the night riding season.

Mountaineering

Thanks to Runout (GetOutdoors) for the heads up on Subaru’s concept car, the Mountain Rescue Vehicle.  It may not seem very practical but I think it looks great.  Granted, my shallow tastes might change if I were stuck in snowy conditions watching my rescue vehicle slide back down the mountain.

Cliff Jumping

It’s a couple of weeks old now but ProTravellers has put together the 7 Most Extreme Cliff Dives on Earth.  Club Conch was cliff diving a few weeks ago.  Great fun.

That’s it for now.  I’m always looking for more adventure blogs so feel free to post more in the comments or, if you’re a member of The Conch, search for simonjermy and send me a message.
